The Ovid-Kinderhook Waste Water Treatment Plant is located on South Angola Road in Kinderhook Township and services 1,566 homes on Coldwater and Long Lake and also maintains the cluster system at Bay View.

The plant is a Class L2 facility operating under two state permits for groundwater discharge and surface water discharge with a quarterly billing ($58.50) covering the operation and maintenance costs of the system.

System I has 600 users and requires a $3,500 connection fee for a new structure on a platted vacant lot that has not previously been paying the quarterly operation and maintenance fee.

System II has 966 users and does not have a connection fee, but pays for individual taps through special assessments on the winter tax. The original assessment will end in 2023 and the supplemental amount will end December of 2025. This special assessment is placed on the roll by the Branch County Treasurer and pay-off information is available from her office (517-279-4321).

Lakeside Estates is a public water system located in Section 29 of Girard Township and is also under the jurisdiction of the Board of Public Works. The system is maintained by a special assessment to the property owners on their winter tax.

The subdivision, located on the east side of River Road, has a committee that coordinates recommendations with the Board of Public Works and the Girard Township Board. They have been instrumental in upgrading the water system to be in compliance with the Well Head Protection Act and the operation and maintenance of the facility.

Records for both facilites are maintained at the Drain Commission/Department of Public Works office in the lower level of the courthouse.
